Jericho was a town in the West Bank near the Jordan River on Earth. Jericho was believed to be one of the oldest continuously-inhabited cities on Earth, dating back to 9000 BCE. The destruction of Jericho's walls dates archaeologically to around 1550 BCE, by a siege or an earthquake.

In Mission to Horatius Spock inaccurately referred to the destruction of Jericho's walls taking place in the Middle Ages, when the event actually occurred in the Bronze Age.
