Jerusalem was an ancient city on Earth, in the Middle Eastern region. Jerusalem was the historic capital of the State of Israel and is a holy city in the Human religions of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.

The city was the subject of a number of military conflicts during Earth's Middle Ages, which would come to be called Crusades. The city of Salem, Massachusetts was named in its honor, by colonizing American Pilgrims in the 17th century. (TAS episode: "The Magicks of Megas-Tu")

Little has been established about the disposition of Jerusalem in the Star Trek era, though it is known that the Israeli/Palestinian conflict was eventually peacefully resolved.
