Jerusalem was an ancient city on Earth, in the Middle Eastern region. Jerusalem was the historic capital of the State of Israel and is a holy city in the Human religions of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.

History Edit

The city was the subject of a number of military conflicts during Earth's Middle Ages, which would come to be called Crusades. The city of Salem, Massachusetts was named in its honor, by colonizing American Pilgrims in the 17th century. (TAS episode: "The Magicks of Megas-Tu")

Jerusalem was captured during the First Crusade. (DS9 novel: Arcade)

On 1 May 2053, Jerusalem was one of a number of cities that suffered a nuclear attack at the onset of World War III. (ST - The Lost Era novel: The Sundered)

Jerusalem and the surrounding area were the subject of much archaeological study in the modern age, as the city was built in layers upon ruins of previous eras. (CoE eBook: Ghost)

In 2266, celebrated Earth mathematician and pacifist Alfred Bleikoff, cryogenically frozen in the 1990s, was revived aboard the USS Enterprise. Once on Earth, he embarked on a campaign to have the planetary Earth defense screen removed, and his persuasive personality swayed audiences. He delivered speeches in Rome, Mariana City, New Chicago, and then in Jerusalem. He was greeted upon arrival by Mayor Abdula and General Hershkoqitz, head of security, and taken to a studio to make his appeal. (TOS comic: "Prophet of Peace")

In 2372, Kamilah Goldstein was buried in Jerusalem. (SA comic: "Passages")

Little has been established about the disposition of Jerusalem in the Star Trek era, though it is known that the Israeli/Palestinian conflict was eventually peacefully resolved.
