John Masefield (born: 1878 died: 1967) was a human poet and author that was native to England on the planet Earth.

John Masefield wrote the poem Sea-Fever which gives the quote "All I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by." This quote was used by Captain James T. Kirk (TOS movie: Star Trek V: The Final Frontier) and Captain Jean-Luc Picard. (TNG novel: The Forgotten War) In 2267 while Lieutenant Kevin Riley was looking up Irish poets on the computer a malfunction caused it to play Sea Fever. (TOS novel: Web of the Romulans)
