Kahless IV was a male Klingon who was Emperor of the Klingon Empire in the 2280s. (TOS comic: "... The Only Good Klingon...")
Biography
In 2284, Kahless IV very likely authorized Termination Order 1456 against Thought Admiral Krador zantai Rrilac, following discovery of falsified military records on the Klingon colony world of Muldor IV. (FASA RPG module: Termination: 1456)
Kahless was forced by the Excalbians to start the war against the Federation in see whether good or evil was stronger. Kahless tried to convince them that this war would destroy his people, to no avail. (TOS comic: "Errand of War")
He was freed when the Organians and the Excalbians left the material plane. (TOS comic: "Deadly Allies")
In 2286, he conferred with Federation President Hiram Roth about the attack on the Klingon science outpost planet Miraud and the IKS Fury by the renegade Starfleet vessel USS Zephyr. (TOS comic: "Marriage of Inconvenience")
During the following year, 2287, the emperor journeyed to Earth in order to testify against Captain James T. Kirk at his trial in Starfleet Headquarters, where an assassination attempt upon his life is foiled by Kirk. All charges against the captain are dropped, with Kahless swearing a life-debt to Kirk afterward. (TOS comics: "... Let's Kill All the Lawyers!", "Trial and Error!")
- The reign of Kahless IV is contradicted by the TNG episode "Rightful Heir", which explicitly states there has been no Klingon emperor since the 21st century.
