Karcinko was a Ferengi mining colony which was established in the mid-24th century, and was partly-designed by Bralik.

Before the radical reforms which enabled women to have an equal role in Ferengi society, Bralik spent time on the colony as "property" of the senior engineer, with whom she partly designed the colony with. When the engineer left her for another woman, Bralik remained behind on the colony to study geology. (TTN novel: Taking Wing)
