Kazakhstan

Memory Beta, the wiki for licensed Star Trek content.

Kazakhstan was a nation-state in central Asia on Earth. It was part of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics through most of the 20th century, and was the location of the Baikonur Cosmodrome.

It was also the site of numerous space-scanning radio telescopes, which were carefully avoided by the DY-100 vessel launched in 2045, carrying a pair of stranded Vulcans back to their homeworld. (TOS novel: Strangers from the Sky)
