Kendra Novak was a 24th century Human, a sciences division Starfleet officer serving on the Federation starship USS Enterprise-D. She died in 2370 on a mission aboard a damaged spacecraft. Her spacesuit was ruptured, and she received plasma burns over most of her body. In the few moments before she passed away, she held Data's hand and informed him that she did not want to die alone.

At her funeral, Q turned the mourners (and the entire Enterprise-D crew) into androids. (TNG comic: "Artificiality")
