Kentucky bourbon is an alcoholic beverage from the Human civilization of the planet Earth. It is a variety of bourbon, a straight whiskey that has been distilled from a fermented grain mash, a corn (maize) mixture, and aged in a wooden barrel. The drink originates from the state of Kentucky in the United States of America nation, on the North American continent.

History and specifics[]

In November of the year 2151, Malcolm Reed and Charles Tucker III shared a bottle of Kentucky bourbon while marooned in space, drifting in Shuttlepod 1, a disabled OTV type K42 shuttle. Tucker thought Jonathan Archer had intended to give the bottle away, but couldn't recall to whom. (ENT episode: "Shuttlepod One")

In 2155, after tasting a sip of Romulan ale offered by Tinh Hoc Phuong, Tucker decided he preferred Kentucky bourbon. (ENT novel: The Good That Men Do)

By the 23rd and 24th centuries, Kentucky bourbon was still a favorite beverage of many humans, and was often stocked in bars across the galaxy's Alpha and Beta Quadrants. (TOS novel: The Entropy Effect)

Kentucky bourbon was a favorite drink of Leonard McCoy. He once commented that he didn't like ice water unless it was mixed with Kentucky bourbon. McCoy kept an emergency supply inside a bottom cabinet in sickbay. He disliked synthesized Kentucky bourbon, which he thought tasted raw.
