Kira Taban was a Bajoran male who lived during the 24th century. He was the husband of Kira Meru. They had two sons, Kira Pohl and Kira Reon, and a daughter, Kira Nerys. In the 2340s, he lived with his family at the Singha refugee camp.
In 2346, Meru was taken to be a 'comfort woman' for the Cardassians on Terok Nor and in return the family received more rations. However, Taban never forgot his love for Meru and praised her for her courage. He told their children that she had remained in the Singha refugee camp, later claiming that she had died there. When Taban took in Tir Remara after her family's death, she noticed the extra rations, and informed the resistance who instructed her to take the excess to give to those more needy. When Taban caught her in this act, she accused him of being a traitor and ran away. Subsequently, to avoid being hounded as collaborators, the Kiras were forced to give up their extra rations.
