The Kirk Defense was the name given to a tactic improvised by Captain James T. Kirk in 2267.

In order to stop an ancient doomsday machine, Kirk piloted the crippled USS Constellation toward the device and beamed out at the last possible moment before the ship's makeshift self-destruct sequence activated. The destruction of the Constitution-class starship while inside the device destroyed it from within, leaving only a derelict hull.
