A kitchen is an area set aside for the storage and preparation of food - including the cooking of food.

Due to replication technology kitchens were not often included in 24th century Federation installations. A notable exception was USS Voyager, which Neelix retrofitted with a kitchen after the ship was stranded in the Delta Quadrant. (VOY episode: "Phage")

Captain Benjamin Sisko planned an elaborate kitchen for his house in the Kendra Valley on Bajor. (DS9 episode: "Penumbra")

During Sisko's time with the Prophets his wife Kasidy Yates felt the kitchen was going to waste and considered taking up cooking in order to put the kitchen to use. (DS9 novel: Avatar, Book One)
