The Klingon shell squid was an animal presumably native to Qo'noS, which was commonly served and consumed as food. Patrice Bennett, while dating Starfleet Academy Cadet David Gold in the 2320s, one served Klingon shell squid without cooking it sufficiently. As a result, Gold was violently ill for ten days.
