Kob was a male Bajoran, an archaeologist in the 24th century.

In 2368 he was part of an expedition led by Marjorie Devarona to investigate recently discovered ruins on Rajatha Prime. On the planet the expedition discovered a collection of harmonic diamonds, unknown to any of them the diamonds stimulated areas of the brain associated with primitive emotions, including anger, envy, and greed. That night as the team discussed what they might do with there recently acquired wealth, Kob imaged one of the gems could build many hospitals on Bajor.

Unfortunately that desire was never met, the next day Kob was killed by fellow team member Gest. (TNG comic: Captain's Pleasure)
