For the mirror universe counterpart, see Kornelius Yates (mirror).

Kornelius Yates was a male Human who lived on Cestus III during the 24th century. He was the son of Jae Yates and the brother of Kasidy Yates, and also had at least one brother himself.

In 2371, Yates was one of several colonists involved in the establishment of the Cestus Baseball League. Yates began to play for the Pike City Pioneers and would send his sister recordings of the games, including one where the Pioneers played the Cestus Comets. (DS9 episode: "Family Business", ST - The Fall novel: Revelation and Dust)

In early 2372, Yates offered his future brother-in-law Benjamin Sisko seats by the dugout at a future baseball game. Despite the eight week journey between Deep Space 9 and Cestus III, Sisko thought it would be worth it to see Yates play in a real baseball game. (DS9 episode: "The Way of the Warrior")

Yates was known by the nickname of "Junior". His performances reminded many fans of Buck Bokai. (ST reference: Federation Travel Guide)

By 2380, some considered Yates to be over the hill and past his prime, although others felt he could still play well at certain times. (ST novel: Articles of the Federation)
