Ensign Krissten Richter was a Human female who served in Starfleet in the late 24th century. In 2373, Richter was assigned as a nurse aboard the Deep Space 9 and her attached starship, the USS Defiant.
Shortly after her assignment to DS9, Richter became romantically involved with Bajoran security officer, Etana Kol. (DS9 comic: "Requiem in Obsidian")
In 2376, Richter served as Doctor Julian Bashir's chief assistant during the Defiant's three-month exploratory mission of the Gamma Quadrant. (DS9 - Mission Gamma novel: Twilight)
Early the following year, Richter was placed in command of the Defiant's medical bay when Commander Elias Vaughn took the ship out in pursuit of the renegade Jem'Hadar, Taran'atar. (DS9 novel: Warpath)
