The Kujalans were a humanoid species native to the planet Kujal.

History and specifics[]

By the early 23rd century, the Kujalans had an advanced civilization, having developed jet aircraft and rockets. However, this came to an end when their star began emitting an unknown radiation that started shrinking the planet's life forms. Although they eventually learned the cause, they were unable to stop the shrinking, and were forced to build a new city each generation appropriate to their new proportions. Though they knew they would in time become microscopic in size, they refused to abandon their world.

In 2266, two generations after the shrinking began, first contact was made between the Federation and the Kujalans when a landing party from the USS Enterprise led by Captain James T. Kirk arrived on their world. General Kwy, fearing that the giants would enslave his people, captured Kirk, Spock and Uhura and took them to President Alata in Fara-3 City. After being told their history, they offered to find a solution to their problem. They studied the radiation and, despite the attempts of two soldiers sent by General Kwy to sabotage the mission, discovered the cure for their shrinking. (TOS comic: "Dwarf Planet")
