Kumamoto is a city on the island of Kyushu, Japan. The city is the capital of the Kumamoto Prefecture.

In 2369, upon transferring to Deep Space Nine Miles O'Brien told Commander Sisko that his wife Keiko spoke of visiting her mother in Kumamoto upon seeing their quarters for the first time.
