Kuri was an officer in the Klingon Imperial Fleet during the 23rd century, commanding the IKS Klothos.

Biography[]

Kuri was descended from Klingons who were afflicted with the Qu'Vat virus, resulting in his lacking the species' characteristic forehead ridges. (ENT episodes: "Affliction", "Divergence")

In 2269, the Klothos and the USS Enterprise became trapped in the Delta Triangle, passing into the realm of Elysia. To return to their dimension, both crews agreed to work together though the Klingons took the opportunity to surreptitiously plant a bomb aboard the Enterprise that would detonate once the craft reached Warp 8. As a result of Magen's psionic abilities, the Enterprise crew was able to eject the explosive in time and escape, prompting Kuri to swear revenge on the crew, Kirk in particular. (TAS episode: "The Time Trap")

Some years later, Kuri led his crew to attack a Federation mining outpost at Cygnus VII only for their ship to be shot down by the colony's defences. Marooned on one of the system's moons, the Klingons came across a massive city that they believed to have been built by the Federation. As they investigated, the Decepticons, the city's actual owners, arrived and demanded the Klingons identify themselves. Once it became clear both parties loathed humans, Megatron invited Kuri to speak of his past with the Enterprise and proposed a mutually beneficial alliance. (TAS - Star Trek vs. Transformers comic: "Prime's Directive, Part One")

Quickly though, Megatron lost interest in Kuri, the Klingons only wining the Cybertronians over by revealing the existence of their cloaking device. As Trypticon scanned the crashed D7 to copy its cloaking device, Kuri was manipulated by Starscream into providing him with a personal cloaking device. After Trypticon had crippled the USS Enterprise, the Decepticons and Klingons returned to the colony. (TAS - Star Trek vs. Transformers comics: "Issue 2", "Issue 4")

When Spock and Optimus Prime surrendered to Starscream for the safety of the colonists, Kuri beamed down to gloat only for Fortress Maximus to suddenly burst free of the moon and confront Trypticon. (TAS - Star Trek vs. Transformers comic: "Issue 3")

The sight of the Autobot Titan convinced Starscream to flee, allowing Megatron to discover Kuri providing his second with a cloaking device. Before the warlord could execute Kuri, the Autobots assaulted him. When Trypticon was knocked down, Megatron ordered his forces to retreat, leaving the Klingons to be taken prisoner by the Autobot/Starfleet alliance. (TAS - Star Trek vs. Transformers comic: "Issue 4")

Upon being informed that the Decepticons sought to conquer Qo'noS, Kuri agreed to work with the Autobots and Starfleet, speaking on their behalf to the Klingon High Council. Despite being outnumbered, the Decepticons proved the better fighters in the following battle before Soundwave unleashed his audio disruptor waves. Klingon biology however was deaf to the frequency the spymaster used allowing Kuri to summon a warbird fleet that defeated the invaders. As the Decepticons were taken into Klingon custody, a victorious Kuri remarked that the Decepticons had underestimated his people. (TAS - Star Trek vs. Transformers comic: "Issue 5")
