Lakarian City was a settlement on Cardassia Prime and was located on the coast of the continent of South Forbella. (DS9 - Mission: Gamma novel: Cathedral)

History[]

Lakarian City featured a number of religious-themed murals. Doctors Leonard McCoy and Jo Stern were familiar with these artworks. (TLE novel: Well of Souls)

It's unclear whether Federation representatives had visited Cardassia Prime prior to this period (2336), or if McCoy and Stern were familiar only through images of these works.

At some point in the past, Lakarian served the purpose of centralizing the planetary government in a more subtle and aesthetic manner until Cardassia City was created which became a more appropriate seat of power for the empire. Many of the buildings dated back to the early stages of the Republic with even a number of Hebitian ruins being present that somehow survived the almost complete eradication of that culture. (DS9 short story: "The Calling")

As a young boy Elim Garak and his father Tolan visited the remains of a Hebitian city just outside of Lakarian. The ruins were then in a dire state, and what was left was removed shortly afterwards and sold by Romulan art dealers throughout the quadrant. (DS9 novel: A Stitch in Time)

In 2318, the First Speaker authorized the transfer of food supplies from a stockpile in Lakarian City. (ST - Terok Nor novel: Day of the Vipers)

Sometime in the mid 24th century, there was a civilian insurgence in Lakarian City against the Cardassian government. This uprising was quickly put down by an officer named Korven. (DS9 - Worlds of Deep Space Nine novel: Cardassia: The Lotus Flower)

Gul Skrain Dukat was to take his son Mekor to Lakarian in 2371. (DS9 episode: "Defiant")

The Dominion destroyed Lakarian City in late 2375, in response to the Cardassian people turning against them. The destruction of Lakarian convinced Ekoor to turn against the Dominion and assist Legate Corat Damar and his Rebellion. (DS9 novelization: What You Leave Behind)

Elim Garak was in Lakarian City in mid-2376, helping in the reconstruction efforts. Yevir Linjarin visited the city with Ekosha in that year. Akellen Macet accompanied them, where he encountered his nephew Mekor. (DS9 novel: Cathedral)

On stardate 85458.18 (June 2408), nine Cardassians were killed when a bomb detonated in an amusement district of Lakarian City. Among the victims was a daughter of Gul Antos. The True Way claimed responsibility for the attack. (STO mission: "Standoff")
