Lanitow Irizal was a native of Altair VI who served as Director of the Federation's Bureau of Interplanetary Affairs in the 2290s.

In 2293, Irizal, on the advice of President Ra-ghoratreii, arranged a meeting with Captain Spock in his office on Rigel IV, in the hopes of getting Spock to become a Federation ambassador-at-large. After showing Spock the sort of scenarios he would deal with as an ambassador, he finally accepted. (TOS novel: The Fire and the Rose).
