Lazon II was a planet in the galaxy's Alpha Quadrant, the second planet in the Lazon star system in the space of the Cardassian Union.
History and specifics[]
Lazon II was originally planned to be settled as a deutronium mining colony for the Cardassians. When demand for the fuel mining dropped, the colony site was turned into a labor camp. (TNG novel: Triangle: Imzadi II)
In the year 2371, Thomas Riker was imprisoned there for attacking several Cardassian targets with the Federation starship USS Defiant, which Riker had stolen from Deep Space 9. (DS9 episode: "Defiant")
Later in 2371, Sela freed Riker from Lazon II, although he was later returned there. (TNG novel: Triangle: Imzadi II, TNG - Slings and Arrows eBook: A Weary Life)
Kyle Riker thought Thomas could have been released by the Cardassians prior to 2379, although Will Riker had heard nothing. (ST - A Time to... novel: A Time to Hate)
25th century[]
Following the end of the Dominion War, Lazon II was abandoned by the Cardassians. Thomas Riker built a community with the prisoners. The mother of his son, Joshua Riker, was a botanist who enabled the colony to grow its own food. When the Federation became aware of the colony in 2409, Starfleet sent a vessel with provisions and medical supplies to Lazon II. (STO mission: "Badlands")
Alternate realities[]
In an alternate timeline, Lazon II was invaded by the Grigari. (DS9 - Millennium novel: The War of the Prophets)
