Lenara Kahn

Lenara Kahn is a Trill female, an intelligent and prominent scientist, and the current host of the Kahn symbiont. She works for the Trill Science Ministry with her brother Bejal Otner.

In 2372, she came to Deep Space 9 to conduct field tests on creating artificial wormholes. There she met Jadzia Dax, whose past host Torias Dax was married to Lenara's past host Nilani Kahn.

The two Trill females began Torias and Nilani's relationship again, despite the risk of being discovered and face exile from Trill and the eventual death of Dax and Kahn. Lenara later decided to not pursue the relationship. (DS9 episode: "Rejoined")

The following year, Lenara's plan to seal the Bajoran wormhole and stop the Dominion invading was put into action, although sabotage from a Founder posing as Julian Bashir scuppered the effort. (DS9 episode: "In Purgatory's Shadow")

Lenara's work on artificial wormholes later inspired Dr. Lem Faal, a Betazoid scientist, to find a way to breach the galactic barrier. (TNG miniseries: The Q Continuum)
