A library computer was a computer system and database construct.

History and specifics[]

A version designed by the Federation was commonly used on Starfleet vessels, space stations and other installations. Its memory banks contained a wealth of recorded data which could be accessed by authorized personnel. (ST reference: The Star Trek Encyclopedia)

In the 24th century, the library computer interface was provided by LCARS software. (TNG reference: Star Trek: The Next Generation Technical Manual)
