Lloyd's of London was an insurance market founded in Great Britain on Earth in the 17th century. It served as a meeting place for financial backers to come together in order to pool and spread the risk of their business ventures.

Lloyds continued to exist into the 23rd century, when they insured interstellar cargo transported by space freighters. The cargo transported by Captain Anne Gauvreau on the SS Ian Shelton from Intrator II to Hanover in 2269, valued at nearly a hundred thousand credits, was insured by Lloyds. (TOS novel: Prime Directive)

The insurer is referred to simply as "Lloyds" in this novel, perhaps indicating that it was no longer based in London by this time.
