For other uses, see Lyra.

Lyra was a 23rd century Iskonian woman, a cybernetically enhanced rebel freedom fighter who resided on the planet Iskonia.

Biography[]

During its search for biological perfection, the Omnimind overlord of Iskonia experimented with Lyra, grafting cybernetic enhancements to her head, arms, and torso, and replacing her left leg with a prosthetic. She later escaped and joined the planet's resistance movement to overthrow the Omnimind, joining Strike Force. She became close friends with rebel teammate Karos.

In the year 2274, she met a landing party from the Federation starship USS Enterprise led by Captain James T. Kirk. Lyra insisted that she accompany Kirk's team to rendezvous with reinforcements from the Enterprise, hoping their new allies could help overpower the Omnimind. She then helped them breech the Iskonian Main Dome fortress to rescue Kirk's kidnapped security officer Marsha Latham. A power field within the dome began affecting her implants. During the assault, Lyra asked Kirk to kill a number of half-dead, shambling Iskonians called 507-Units, but because they were still alive, Kirk wouldn't murder them.

After the Omnimind was deactivated, Lyra felt quite alone. Kirk left psychiatrists and a medical team on the surface to help her and her compatriots adjust to their new freedom. (TOS comic: "Restructuring Is Futile")
