"Mad Zook" was allegedly a male Ferengi explorer, credited with discovering the planet Chimera Pi in Ferengi year 17231. Chimera Pi was reported to have massive deposits of latinum, and billions of Ferengi were inspired to leave Ferenginar in pursuit of profit.

It was later discovered that the reports of "Mad Zook" had actually originated with the Ferengi Office of Population Control, during the Overpopulation Crisis of 17231. Whether or not Mad Zook was a real person or not remains unknown to the present day. (DS9 novel: Legends of the Ferengi)
