A Starfleet marine regiment is a Federation military unit consisting of thousands of Starfleet Marines under the command of a colonel. Regiments may be further divided into battalions and companies, and make up brigades and divisions. Regiments are mobile companies that may be assigned to transport starships and deployed in planetary operations. (FASA RPG module: The Four Years War)
