She attended Endurance University on Mars, where she studied archaeology. While at Endurance University, she met a fellow student who would later become her husband. At some point in her career, Aster visited Jureosa, where she made amazing discoveries.
During an away mission in 2366 on the homeworld of the Koinonians, Aster was killed by a bomb from a long-ago war. The Koinonians later created a replica of Aster in an attempt to mitigate the effect of her loss on her son. (TNG episode: "The Bonding")
After Worf was paralyzed in an accident and contemplated suicide, William T. Riker brought up Aster's name in a list of examples of comrades killed in action who fought for life to the end. (TNG episode: "Ethics")
