A Martian was a person native to the Martian Colonies on Mars, most commonly Humans. (TNG novel: Rogue, et al.)

Prior to human settlement of the Mars, the term "Martian" referred to an imagined species native to the planet. Martians were often featured in science fiction stories of the 20th century, such as in Incredible Tales Magazine. (DS9 episode & novelization: "Far Beyond the Stars")

After travelling back in time to 1947, Quark, Rom and Nog were mistakenly identified as Martians by the United States military. (DS9 episode: "Little Green Men")

One imagining of this fictional race were part of a RPG developed by Elizabeth Cutler to pass the time aboard the Earth Starfleet vessel Enterprise. These Martians were described as being green with sharp, pointy teeth. (ENT novel: By the Book)
