Masaba is a class M planet located on the opposite side of the space of the Romulan Star Empire away from the Federation. Masaba was somewhat near Lapith and Ibex.

In the 23rd century, Masaba was home to a primitive humanoid civilization, the Masabans-or, as they refer to themselves-"(The Village of) The Cat People." The planet had once been much more technologically advanced, with ruins of great computer-controlled installations hidden in Masaba's wilderness.

In the 2260s, the Starfleet starship Enterprise was stranded near Masaba, and a landing party visited this world searching for dilithium. After finding their way, having made contact with the Masaban tribal chief, then a medicine man, the crew avoid shooting plants and swamp beasts, obtain a repellent against Masaban blood worms, and enter a ruin using an artifact known as the Eye of Kakos as a key. After overcoming a puzzle of alien symbols, the crew activate a powerful computer that allows them access to a store of raw dilithium. (TOS video game: 25th Anniversary)
