Master chief petty officer (MCPO) is an enlisted rank in Starfleet, above a senior chief petty officer. It is the highest enlisted rank in Starfleet.

In the 2260s, a Starfleet master chief would wear an embroidered uniform rank insignia of an enclosed chief's chevron insignia with three stripes beneath it, below the assignment patch on certain Starfleet uniforms. (FASA RPG module: Cadet's Orientation Sourcebook)

While the FASA RPG manual showed a variety of enlisted insignia, none were ever used in a canon or licensed TOS-era production or publication.

By the 2280s, a master chief wore an insignia pin in normal unform wear, a silver ring with an enlarged upper segment and a gold diamond within. A lower grade, MCPO second class, had a similar insignia, of the ring and diamond without the upper segment. (ST reference: Star Trek Encyclopedia)
