Max Vargas was a 23rd century Human man, a mining engineer.
Biography[]
In 2274, Vargas owned tritanium mining equipment and an operation on Argus IV. When increasing earthquakes threatened safety, he sent a distress call to the Federation. By the time a starship arrived, he'd sold the mine to Harry Mudd.
Mudd sold it back after the planet was broken into asteroidal debris by the hatching of a giant cosmozoan, unaware that it would now be far easier to mine its natural resources. (TOS comic: "It's a Living")
