McKone was a 23rd century Human serving in Starfleet. By the late 2250s, McKone was a command division officer serving aboard the USS Farragut as navigator.

In 2257, McKone was at their station on the bridge when the Farragut was attacked by a dikironium cloud creature while orbiting Tycho IV. McKone was one of two hundred crewmen killed during the attack. (TOS - My Brother's Keeper novel: Constitution)
