In the mirror universe, Melakon was a male Ekosian who lived during the 23rd century. A tall, virile man attended by a harem of beauties, Melakon rose to the title of Security Minister of the Terran Empire.
Early life and careerEdit
Melakon hailed from Ekos, a subject world of the Terran Empire. His planet served as the proving ground for John Gill's Managed Culture theories. The imitative Ekosians took to his highly-structured artificial society with zeal. Melakon was an ardent supporter of Gill and showed more fervor than most, which prompted Gill take him as his protégé. Melakon later served as Security Chief on various other test worlds, where Gill later struggled to repeat his successes on Ekos.
Tenure as Security MinisterEdit
In the year 2266, after Gill had become Emperor, Melakon was appointed to the position of Security Minister and became Gill's most trusted aide and right-hand man. One of the juiciest rumors surrounding Emperor Gill was that he was very ill, with Melakon being the true power behind the throne. Although Melakon would proclaim his absolute loyalty to Gill at the slightest opportunity, some seasoned throne-watchers suspected that he wanted the throne for himself, fully intending to become the second Emperor to not have been born on Earth, the first having been Garth of Izar.
In appearance, it was noted that Melakon bore a striking resemblance to another cabinet member, Rota Sevrin. Despite their facial similarities, it was easy to tell the men apart due to Melakon's Terran-like Ekosian appearance and Sevrin's distinctive Tiburonian ears and baldness.
In 2270, Spock, who had been put in charge of a special branch of Imperial Security by Emperor Gill, and Minister of Vassal Affairs Samuel T. Cogley started plotting for Spock to replace Melakon as Security Minister in order to increase Spock's influence within the Empire. In 2271, Spock and Cogley convinced Emperor Gill that Melakon was planning to assassinate him, prompting Gill to send him to the execution chamber. Although Spock expected to take Melakon's place, the subsequent arrival of V'Ger altered his plans. (Decipher RPG module: Through a Glass, Darkly)
