Memory Beta, non-canon Star Trek Wiki

A friendly reminder regarding spoilers! At present the expanded Trek universe is in a period of major upheaval with the continuations of Discovery and Prodigy, the advent of new eras in gaming with the Star Trek Adventures RPG, Star Trek: Infinite and Star Trek Online, as well as other post-57th Anniversary publications such as the ongoing IDW Star Trek comic and spin-off Star Trek: Defiant. Therefore, please be courteous to other users who may not be aware of current developments by using the {{spoiler}}, {{spoilers}} OR {{majorspoiler}} tags when adding new information from sources less than six months old (even if it is minor info). Also, please do not include details in the summary bar when editing pages and do not anticipate making additions relating to sources not yet in release. THANK YOU

This page describes one of Memory Beta's policies and guidelines
Please read through the policy below to familiarize yourself with our common practices and rules. If you have any questions, suggestions, or complaints, please post them on the talk page.

When you're writing an article for Memory Beta, consider the audience you're writing for. Since Memory Beta is intended primarily for Star Trek fans, readers are likely to already be familiar with the basic premise and setting of the subject. However, it never hurts to be too careful, so specifying the appropriate series (or at least the century) is encouraged, so that the topic can easily be placed.

The use of technobabble is unavoidable, but be sure to explain jargon in most cases — not everyone has memorized the Star Trek Encyclopedia or is familiar with all the technical terms that the shows use!

The most important goal, however, is to make the article readable and informative. Towards that end, you should do whatever you feel is necessary to make the article meet those standards.
