The Metamorphans were a sentient species native to the planet Metamorpha.

History and specifics[]

They were originally humanoid until hundreds of years prior to the 23rd century, when they were transformed into energy beings after a meteorite struck their planet, changing its chemistry and vaporizing their bodies. In 2266, the USS Enterprise explored the planet, having discovered tiantianium deposits there. The Metamorphans made mental contact with Spock and influenced him to construct a device to reverse the meteorite's effects on the planet, which also returned them to their original state. (TOS comic: "The Peril of Planet Quick Change")
