Micheau Pochenko was a corpsman on an inoculation expedition to Dramia II in 2249. The team was lead by Advanced Intern Leonard McCoy. It was McCoy's second extrasolar assignment, as well as his first medical command. At the time, the mission seemed routine. Shortly after leaving Dramia II, a virulent plague wiped out half the population. Pochenko also contracted the disease and died. He was one of two team members who contracted the disease, with the other being Severin Alonzo Hart. (TOS - Log Six novelization: Albatross)
