Ming Xiong was a human Starfleet officer in the 23rd century. Born in 2234, he was an idealistic young man who joined Starfleet to "help" the galaxy.

Though brilliant and highly skilled, he also tended to display hostility toward authority figures.

Ming was one of only three officers on Vanguard station who knew the truth behind the Federation's aggressive reach into the Taurus Reach.

Ming was one of the few survivors in Starfleet's first encounter with the mysterious Shedai wanderer that an SCE inadvertently activated on Ravanar IV. (VAN novels: Harbinger, Summon the Thunder)
