Mir was a Russian space station.

In 2020, Alice Fontana cited a fire which occurred aboard Mir as a reason why fires in space were so dangerous when a fire occurred aboard the USS Lewis & Clark. (TOS novel: The Rings of Time)

In 2373, a patron of the The Captain's Table noted that he felt Mir existed for a decade longer than it was expected to and that in its final days "it was held together by spit and glue". The bar patron cited it as an example of the work of Human engineers who made things work "on a whim and a prayer". (DS9 novel: The Mist)
