Lieutenant Mitchell Obrecht was a male Human Starfleet engineer in the 24th century.

Biography[]

Soon after transferring to the USS Enterprise-E in the year 2379, he was part of the Bravo team to Tezwa's Solasook Peninsula under Lieutenant Commander Data. (TNG - A Time to... novel: A Time to Kill)

After the Enterprise uncovered the truth about the nadion-pulse cannons and intercepted further contraband shipments intended to frame the Tholians, Obrecht helped to catalog the materials recovered from the planet. (TNG - A Time to... novel: A Time to Heal)

In July 2384, he was part of an away team sent to the Machine aboard the runabout USS Cumberland, along with fellow engineers Lieutenant Pinkman and Ensigns Jutron and Meidat, security officers Lieutenants Randolph Giudice and Peter Davila and pilot Ensign Allison Scagliotti, to sabotage it with a large-scale three-part chemical explosive, where he was responsible for the final assembly of the device. As soon as assembly was complete and the first two reactants started mixing, however, defenses inside the Machine activated and Obrecht was killed by being pierced by hundreds of spikes shooting up from the ground. (TNG - Cold Equations novel: The Body Electric)
