Miyamoto Musashi
- For other uses, see Musashi.
Miyamoto Musashi was a 17th century Japanese swordsman and philosopher. He wrote A Book of Five Rings, a collection of strategic principles studied by martial artists and others for centuries to follow. Curzon Dax recommended Mushashi's work to Ensign Benjamin Sisko early in their friendship. (DS9 short story: "The Music Between the Notes")
- In the story, Dax erroneously identifies Musashi as a 16th century figure (his birth and childhood was in the 16th century, but his adult accomplishments were in the 17th). He might be the namesake of some of the various starships named USS Musashi.
