A Molotov cocktail was a simple incendiary weapon, consisting of a bottle or other container filled with a flammable liquid (usually petroleum or alcohol) and plugged with a wick. The wick is lit afire, and then the bomb is thrown, creating a fireball when it impacts. (DS9 episode: "Past Tense")
