A starship traveling in battle mode will leave a definite trail of muon particles that can be traced afterwards. When the crews of the USS Enterprise and ChR Bloodwing faked a battle between them, they were careful to create descriptions of the battle that matched the muon trail movements of the ships that could be traced back to them.
