The New Aberdeen Shipyards, also the New Aberdeen Naval Yards, were a prominent Federation Starfleet shipyard construction facility located at Aldebaran in the 23rd and 24th century.

History and specifics[]

Akira patch

Akira-class development patch from the New Aberdeen Shipyards.

In the 23rd century, its Aldebaran III facility was the sixth largest Federation naval yard. (ST reference: Star Trek Maps)

Facilities included an orbital assembly spacedock as well as ground-based component foundaries located on the largest continent's east coast. The shipyard was well known for its fabrication of heavy cruisers and dreadnoughts. (ST reference: The Worlds of the Federation)

By the 24th century, it had expanded operations to Aldebaran II and was a hub for starship traffic. Ferengi sales agent Khortasi maintained an office not far from the Naval Yards. (TNG novel: Infiltrator)

In the 2360s, the Akira-class heavy cruiser was developed at the New Aberdeen Shipyards. (STO mission: "First Contact Day")

In 2370, William T. Riker and Beverly Crusher deduced that Gustav Blaisdell was attempting to spread the Unity virus via the heavy ship traffic near the Naval Yards. (TNG novel: Infiltrator)
