The Giants were a professional baseball team on Earth that was founded in the late 19th century. Initally based in New York City, the team later moved to San Francisco, California in 1957.

In a vision of 1953 created by the Prophets in 2374, Willie Hawkins was the only Negro player for the New York Giants. (DS9 episode: "Far Beyond the Stars").

Captain Benjamin Sisko had a San Francisco Giants cap in his possesion, which he would later wear when preparing for a game of baseball against the Vulcan Logicians team. (DS9 episode Take Me Out to the Holosuite).
