New Zealand

Memory Beta, the wiki for licensed Star Trek content.

New Zealand was a nation-state comprised of a group of islands, dominated by two large islands, in the South Pacific Ocean on Earth. The ancient native people of New Zealand were the Maori, descendants of which continued to live in reservations well into the 24th century, though New Zealand's population was predominantly descended from European colonists. (TNG video game: Away Team)

By the 24th century, the New Zealand Penal Settlement - a Federation penal colony - was established in New Zealand. Among the more notable inmates to serve time at the settlement were James Leyton, Tom Paris, and Richard Bashir. (DS9 novel: Hollow Men; DS9 episode: "Doctor Bashir, I Presume?"; VOY episode: "Caretaker")

The Pennington School for writers was based in Wellington, New Zealand. (DS9 episode: "Explorers")
