Nhauris Rihaul was a 24th century Starfleet officer, a non-humanoid Deirr from the Deneb Kaitos system.

As a Deirr, she had long arms and her skin looked like dark brown, wet leather. An old friend of James T. Kirk, Rihaul and Kirk would joke about the embarrassing noises created by Starfleet-issue plastic bowl chairs creating a suction effect on the sitting Deirr.

In the 2270s, Rihaul held the rank captain, serving as commanding officer aboard the USS Inaieu. (TOS novel: My Enemy, My Ally)

She was later promoted to the rank of admiral, and assigned to Deneb. On stardate 1456.67, she sent the Enterprise on a mission to discover the whereabouts of the missing USS Robert A. Heinlein in the 140 Trianguli region. She instructed them to contact alien species in the region, while observing the Prime Directive and avoiding conflict where possible.
