Bodai Shin

A Bodai Shin assassin.

A ninja was a warrior and assassin class that existed in feudal Japan on planet Earth. (TOS novel: Home Is the Hunter)

History and specifics[]

Ninjas originated in Koga province, and were active in the 16th century.

In the year 1597, a ninja clan from Koga province infiltrated the court of Torii Mototada. While an impostor took the place of the recently deceased concubine Lady Oneko, the lady's entourage was swapped out as well.

In September 1600, these ninjas planned to extract "Oneko" from Fushimi Castle but were accidentally foiled by the time traveling Starfleet officer Hikaru Sulu, who took on the persona of the samurai Suru Heihachiro. Later, she revealed to him her origin in an ancient ninja clan. (TOS novel: Home Is the Hunter)

In the 24th century, the interstellar Bodai Shin were an alien cabal that emulated the ways of the Japanese ninjas. Considered a myth, their existence was proven in the 2370s decade. They wore tight-fitting black robes, and were armed with shuriken, a type of mêlée weapon. (TNG - The Killing Shadows comic: "The Trap, Part I")
