The No'Var Outpost was a Klingon outpost located along the Klingon-Romulan border inside a dense asteroid field, active in the 24th century.

History[]

The outpost was constructed in the wake of Romulan attacks on the planets Narendra III and Khitomer, acting as warning system against Romulan incursions into Klingon space, although it was out of subspace communications range with Qo'noS. By the 2370s decade, No'Var had a full array of disruptor blasters and a quantum torpedo cannon.

In the year 2385, the outpost was commanded by General Kersh, who had taken command in the hopes of stopping the renegade General Charlak. Instead, the Federation Starfleet starship USS Aventine, having been commandeered by Rear Admiral William T. Riker, attacked the outpost, which, at the time, was defended by two Vor'cha-class cruisers. The USS Enterprise-E arrived during the battle and its commanding officer, Captain Jean-Luc Picard eventually devised a strategy to make it appear that the outpost's communications abilities had been disabled, upon which the Aventine departed the area via quantum slipstream and the Enterprise warped way soon after. (TNG novel: Takedown)

Alternate timeline[]

In an alternate timeline where the Cardassian Union still occupied Bajor into the 2370s, Commander J'rak served as the outpost's commanding officer. In 2373, Lieutenant Krivaq, son of Gorv was assigned to the outpost and, over the next five months, saw little action. The dry spell came to an end when a Romulan warbird decloaked in front of the outpost and launched a direct assault. The outpost was able to match the warbird's fire and eventually destroyed her, but her deflector shields fell first and the warbird was able to inflict damage to the outpost's reactor. The outpost was destroyed before anyone was able to escape. (ST - Echoes and Refractions novel: A Gutted World)
