Nood was the third planet in the Kedgellan star system in the Klingon Empire in the Alpha or the Beta Quadrant. It was situated over 10 parsecs beyond the Klingon Neutral Zone. It was the only class M planet in its system, and it had no moons.
The world was home to an Orion Colony that had been occupied by the Klingon Empire. The Klingons posted only a token garrison there, while civil authority lay with the Orion Flagine Corporation, a minor trading and holding company. Though it was a fairly unremarkable world, and despite its depth into Klingon space, Nood received regular shipping from Orion space. Flagine also offered a very secure smuggling route between the Orion Colonies and worlds deep in Klingon space to those who met their high standards and prices.
It had a cool temperate climate, a very thin, albeit Class M, atmosphere and a 25-hour-long day. It had a total surface area of 339,794,650 square kilometers and, with 80% land mass, a total land area of 271,835,720 square kilometers. About 16% of its makeup was normal metals, 2% was industrial crystals, and it had trace amounts of radioactive elements, gemstones, and other special minerals.
